What We Believe

Beliefs Shaping the Culture of CRCA

At CRCA, we believe parents are the primary disciplers of their children, and we consider it a privilege to partner with families as they raise students to know, love, and follow Christ. Through a Christ-centered education and a biblical worldview woven throughout learning, we seek to support both the spiritual and academic growth of each student. At the same time, we recognize that CRCA is not the church and cannot replace the role of the local church in the life of a family. We value the God-given role of the church in worship, discipleship, fellowship, and spiritual leadership, and we desire to come alongside both families and churches as a supportive educational partner.

Statement of Faith

Scripture
WE BELIEVE that The Holy Bible is the literal Word of God. In it, He reveals Himself, His ways, and His salvation by Jesus the Christ through faith. It is inerrant, infallible, true and trustworthy in all it contains, and unified, effective and sufficient in all its purposes. It is the sole and final authority for doctrine and for life.

God
WE BELIEVE in one good, perfect, holy, eternally self-existent, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, personal, triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - each being equally and fully God while distinct in personhood. This is the one and only true God revealed in Scripture as the creator, ruler and sustainer of the universe, orchestrating all things for His purposes which are ultimately His greatest glory and the greatest good of His people.

Humanity & Sin
WE BELIEVE God uniquely created humankind in His own image to live in joyful relationship with Him. Humanity is now estranged from God because of sin, inherited from our first parents, Adam and Eve, engrained in our very nature, and engaged in by all. Because sin is contrary to the moral character, nature and will of the holy God, He must judge sin. The consequences of sin include spiritual and physical death, and discord, division and difficulty in this life. Sin prevents us from fulfilling our purpose of knowing and enjoying God.

Jesus & Salvation
WE BELIEVE that Jesus is God incarnate. God the eternal Son became human. He lived a perfect, sinless life, willingly died the death for sin that we deserve, and bodily rose again from the dead. Having defeated sin, death and the devil, He ascended back to the Father in heaven. This is the gospel: God grants salvation by grace through faith in Jesus, apart from works. The Holy Spirit gives new life, a new heart, repentance, and a new nature, and seals, fills, equips and enables all true believers. God offers forgiveness, redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and grace through Jesus Christ.

Judgement & Eternity
WE BELIEVE that Jesus will one day judge the world and establish His perfect, eternal kingdom. One life is given to each of us, then comes judgment. Every soul that ever lived will stand before God and give an account for their life. Those who were united to Jesus’ perfect righteousness by faith will receive the gift of everlasting life together with God. Those who remain in their sin will receive the sentence of everlasting judgment from God.

Marriage & Family
WE BELIEVE that God established marriage as the first and most fundamental human institution when He brought Eve to Adam. Scripture consistently teaches that marriage is the lifelong, exclusive, covenant union of one man and one woman, intended to symbolically picture Jesus’ relationship with His church. The first marriage also instituted and defined the first family and completed creation. Marriage and family are not cultural, societal, or governmental institutions, to be reimagined, redefined, regulated or practiced in any way contrary to what is revealed by God in Scripture. They are sacred gifts, common graces, the God-ordained building blocks of society, institutions intrinsic to creation, intended for human flourishing in this world.

Life & Sexuality
WE BELIEVE that all human life, having come from God and bearing His image, is of equal and inestimable worth. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and highly value all human life from conception through natural death.

Human sexuality is a beautiful gift from God who has wonderfully created each person male or female. Rejection or dismissal of a person’s biological sex is a denial of God’s sovereignty in creation. We cannot and must not define or express sex or gender in non-binary terms. It is in this distinct complementarity that humankind fully reflects the image of God.

Marriage, as defined by God in Scripture, is the only appropriate context for God’s good gift of sexual intimacy. Any and all other forms of sexual expression or activity are prohibited by God and sinful, including but not limited to pornography, pre-marital sex, cohabitation, adultery.

Matters of Preference & Conscience
WE BELIEVE that, while Scripture is clear regarding all things necessary for salvation, there are some things pertaining to life and faith that true Christians may disagree on this side of heaven. We recognize the freedom, right and authority of individuals and families to follow their conscience as they obey the Word of God. Each individual stands alone before God for their beliefs and actions. We do not believe that any of us holds power or authority over another’s convictions beyond the authority of the Scripture. However, in non-essential matters, matters of preference, of conscience, and potentially divisive issues, we expect Christian love, and the harmony and unity of the school to be prioritized over individual conviction in the CRCA community.

Education & Spiritual Formation (Discipleship)
WE BELIEVE that to fulfill our God-given responsibility of raising our children to the glory of God, both as parents and as partnering educators, we must be concerned with their whole person. Wisdom and truth are ultimately God’s alone to give, and He has bound up wisdom and truth in the person of Jesus Christ. Scripture consistently mixes ethical, doctrinal and practical instruction. It is our conviction that education and spiritual formation (discipleship) go hand-in-hand and are inseparable. Therefore, without usurping the primary, God-ordained roles of parents and churches, we seek to partner with parents and complement churches in both sacred endeavors of the education and discipleship of the next generation.
